Order Books For Honda Civic Diesel Now Open

Following the release of the manual version in January, you can now order the Civic Diesel with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The 118bhp unit was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. It produces 300Nm of torque at 2,000rpm, which helps the hatchback achieve 62mph from standstill in 10.5 seconds.

The Civic's diesel engine is a heavily revised version of the one found in the outgoing car's powertrain, with engineers reducing friction for greater efficiency and claiming to have improved noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) levels.

Honda previously claimed a 76.3mpg fuel consumption figure for its new 1.6-litre diesel Civic, which is actually down on the previous model's economy claims. That's because the new Civic diesel is one of the first cars to be tested on the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure, a test that uses real driving data instead of the lab-based tests the controversial NEDC cycle uses. However, final confirmation of the actual economy figure is still to come.

Four trim levels are on offer for the manual Civic diesel, with the entry-level S starting off at £20 220.

The highest spec Honda Civic diesel is the EX trim, featuring keyless entry, leather interior, adaptive dampers and heated front seats and can also be specified with the optional £600 Tech Pack. This includes LED head and fog lights, wireless phone charging and heated rear seats.
